Donald Lloyd Bus VanBuskirk, 86, of Georgetown, came into this world on January 17, 1924, and started his new life in Heaven on January 17, 2010. VanBuskirk will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. In death, he joins his wife, Iris Gene (Gardner) VanBuskirk. They were married in 1961 and together they raised a large loving family. They are survived by: four children, Perry (Kathy) Brown, Brad Brown, Kate (Tony) Morgan, & Carol (Ron) Firkins; thirteen grandchildren, Kristopher (Jill) Brown, Libby Brown, Tyler (Mimi) Brown, Jonathon (Carrie) Wills, Jennifer (Chad) Noggle, Garrett Kemp, Megan Kemp, Sarah Morgan, Andi Morgan, Jacob Firkins, Joel Firkins, & Will Firkins; four great grandchildren, Kyler & Kolton Brown, Parker & Carsyn Noggle. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Milroy and his special lady friend, Joyce Bell. His family and friends were the things that Bussy enjoyed most in life. He graduated from Oakwood High School and served in the US Army in WWII stationed in Hawaii. He took great pride in serving his country and proudly participated in military funerals and parades. He grew up farming with his father and then started his own farm and cattle business on a farm in Indianola. He always participated in community efforts, including the school board, rural mail carrier, church, and was a fifty year member of the Georgetown Fair Board. The Georgetown Fair provided Bussy with lifelong friends. He will always be remembered as a guy who had a saying or name for everything. His language was his own. He never met a stranger and always found a way to connect with people. He was the best father, husband, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that a person could ever have. Memorials may be made in Bussys name to Georgetown Fair Association or the Shiners Hospital for Children, 2001 S Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
