Donald Lee Smith, 83, of Covington, Indiana passed from this world at 9am Saturday January 13th, 2018 at home with his family by his side. Don was born August 26th, 1934 in Peru, Indiana the son of Edward and Aline (Brock) Smith. He married Linda G. Scott on January 8th, 1961 in Danville, Illinois, she survives. Don leaves behind one daughter; Jeanell (Darrel) Weaver and one son; Randy (Kim) Smith, four grandchildren; Lucas (Melissa) Kendall, Molly Kendall, Travis and Joshua Smith, four great grandchildren; Elijah, Cooper, Arianna and Elliott Lynn, two sisters; Pat Williams and Jeanette Lyons. Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington, he served aboard the USS Almstead in the United States Navy and retired as an Engineer from CSX Railroad. Don's family would like to thank April Maskel and Mother, Cheryl the RN at Premier Hospice. A visitation will be held at Sunset's Covington Chapel 420 Third Street Covington, IN from 10 - 11:30 EST. on Tuesday January 16th, 2018. A Catholic Mass will be held at noon EST on Tuesday January 16th, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 308 Pearl Street Covington, IN. Officiating will be Father Sam Frutal. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. Please join Don's family in sharing memories, video and pictures on his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
