Donald L. Claywell

Donald L. Claywell, 93, of Danville, passed away at 10:25am, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at his home. He was born on August 9, 1929, in Georgetown, IL, the son of Claude and Nora {Gephart} Claywell, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Collins on November 27, 1947, until her passing on December 27, 2011. Donald is survived by his sons, Donald Claywell Jr. and Gary Claywell, both of Danville; his grandchildren, Cindy (Jake) Nelson and Melissa K. Crain; his great grandchildren, Drake, Draycee, Nelson, Chance, Wyatt, and Owen; his great-great grandchildren, Conner, Lucy, and Liam. Donald worked at General Electric for many years. He enjoyed old cars, antiques, and going to the Newport Hill Climb. He also enjoyed playing the slot machines. Donald never knew a stranger and enjoyed having conversations with people and getting to know them. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A celebration of Donalds life will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to donors choice of charity.
