Tilton Donald Joe Bennett Sr., 96, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at VA Illiana Healthcare in Danville, IL surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born on March 8, 1924 in Danville, IL to Pearl Jewel and Effie (Swank) Bennett. Donald married Dorothy Evelyn Kilby on September 1, 1946 in Danville, IL.

Donald is survived by his children Sandra Woods and Donald (Cindi) Bennett Jr.; grandchildren Melissa Holst, Jennifer Shuman, and Dawn Ann Pricer; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law Ronald Woods, grandchildren Nikki and Chad Schoolcraft, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Donald enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and watching the Chicago Cubs.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Patti Wise will officiate. Visitation will be held prior from 11am-12pm at the funeral home. Graveside committal with military honors will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
