Donald 'Jiggs' Gay

Donald "Jiggs" LeRoy Gay, 83, of Westville, passed away at 1:12pm, Monday, October 30, 2017, at VA Illiana Healthcare, Danville. He was born on April 11, 1934, in Tilton, IL, the son of Pearl & Lottie (Lovell) Gay, both deceased. He will be dearly missed by: son, Donald (Loretta) Gay Jr. of Hoopeston; daughters, Julia Gay of Westville & Robin Burton of Kansas; brother, Jim Gay of Tilton; sister, Joe Ann Shultz of Danville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Beverly Gay; sons, Kevin Gay & Wayne Sergent; daughter, Donna Gay; grandsons, Joshua Biage & Skylar Gay. Jiggs was a proud Veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Westville American Legion Post #51 & Masons. He enjoyed dancing, hunting & riding around town on his 3-Wheeler or in his blue pickup truck. He was loved by everyone and was known to never gave up. He was a fighter until the end and he will be remembered by all whose lives he touched. "I want to thank you for the woman I am today. You taught me life isn't always easy, but to never give up and always smile. And when things get at the absolute worst, just dance. Love you, DaddyYour Daughter, Julie." A celebration of Jiggs life will be held at 10:00am, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Sunset-Urbas Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with Jay Sorrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2017 with Masonic Rites at 6:00pm at the funeral home. He will be laid the rest in Sunset Memorial Park, with Military Rites by American Legion Post #51. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Palliative Care at VA Illiana Healthcare System, Danville.
