Donald Lee Hayworth

Donald Lee Hayworth, 90, of Danville passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Donald was born April 1, 1936, in Indianapolis, IN to Kenneth and Eleanor (Flynn) Hayworth. He married Carolyn Mumford in 1956, with whom he had three children. He later married Roberta Hale in 1980. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kim (Mark) Hopkins of Danville and Joni Hayworth of Florida; two grandchildren, Christian (Patty) Hopkins, Lindsey (Evan) Jenkins, 4 great granddaughters, his sister Margie (Joe) Mershon and other extended family.

In addition to his wife Roberta, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey Hayworth, his sister Jean (Myron) Deckard, and his very special friend of over 25 years, Jean Emerson.

After graduating from Montezuma, IN High School, Don joined the U.S. Navy serving as a Yeoman on the USS Forestal and the USS Saratoga. He finished his service at the Pentagon before moving to Danville in 1958 and was employed at Tee-Pak. He spent his retirement enjoying traveling with friends and family.

He enjoyed golf, photography, history, driving country roads and his coffee time with long-time friends. He was a member of the Second Church of Christ.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Terry Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from Noon-2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Donald’s memory to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
