Perrysville, Ind. - Donald G. "Squeak" Hughes, 82, of Perrysville, passed away at 5:50 a.m. EST Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1929 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Forrest G. and Mary Louise Conner Hughes. He married Edith Patricia Ann Smith on August 18, 1949 at the brides residence in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Donita(Wendel)Crowder, and son, Dennis(Carol)Hughes, both of Perrysville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Wendell Scott(Tiffany)Crowder; Jeff(Tracy)Crowder; April(Bob)Fairchild; Derek(Heather)Hughes; Ashley Hughes and Allison Hughes; eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Lorin Hughes. Donald was a farmer. He was a member (80 years) of the Gessie United Methodist Church. Donald was a 1947 graduate of Perrysville High School and a former member of the Perrysville Lions Club. Donald was in charge of designing and helped build the new addition at the Gessie United Methodist Church. He enjoyed building and working with his hands. Donald's main goal in life was his faith, family and farming. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Gessie United Methodist Church in Gessie, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Robert Fairchild; Burial: Hopewell Cemetery in Gessie, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Friday, March 2, 2012 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the church.
