Donald Ellison

Donald Ellison, 77, of Covington passed away in the early morning on October 18, 2018 at the Waters of Covington. He was born the son of Ralph and Mildred (Gillespie) Ellison at their home in Allenville, IL on January 13, 1941. Don married the love of his life Nancy McCoy of Danville, Illinois on November 25, 1965 in Danville until her passing on November 30, 2012. Don is survived by: one daughter; Deanna (Robert) Wise of Fountain Hills, Arizona; two granddaughters, Katie and Courtney Wise; and a grandson, Brice Peyton. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara (Monty) Checkley of Ashmore, IL. Don was a graduate of Kansas High School where he enjoyed success on the basketball team. He retired from Quaker Oats in 2003. Following, Don enjoyed supporting his community by serving on the Covington Police Reserves and is known well across town for plowing snow for various friends and businesses. Don also loved his time spent farming and whispering to his horses throughout the years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Sunset's Covington Chapel, 420 3rd Street, Covington with Reverend Michael Heidle officiating. Visitation will be 11:30am to 1:00pm prior to his service at the Sunset funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery in Danville.
