Donald Edward Simpson, 77, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Born April 16, 1928 in Danville, Illinois, he graduated from Danville High School and attended the University of Illinois. At the close of World War II, he entered the Navy as a radar operator. After his duty in the service, he worked at Del Storm Aluminum, a family business, which he eventually owned and operated. A member of the Danville Country Club, he was an avid golfer. Later, he was a member of the Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club and the Punta Gorda Elks Club. He and his wife, Kathy, moved from Punta Gorda, Florida to Jacksonville in 2001. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Betty Lou Simpson; his daughter, Sandra Simpson Fayhee; and his grandson, Curtis Simpson. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Ann Simpson; his son, Michael E. Simpson and his wife, Mary Ann of Danville; grandsons, Michael E. (Shelley) Simpson, Jr. of Kansas City, KS and Brian J. Simpson of Scottsdale, AZ and his family; three great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Ashley Simpson of Kansas City, KS, and Addison Simpson of Scottsdale, AZ.
