Donald E. Richards, Sr, of Westville, passed away at 8:35am, Tuesday, April 7th, 2009, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born on December 16th, 1953, in Danville, IL, the son of Rex and Sarah (Abston) Richards. He was wed to Michele Phillips on May 5th, 1979, in Georgetown. She will miss him. Others who will miss Don include: his mother, Sally Richards of Westville; his sons, Donny Richards Jr & Shawn (Kimberly) Richards, both of Westville; his daughters, Michele Richards of Danville, Shauna (Daniel) Sollars of Hegeler, Allison Richards of Westville, & Cami Richards of Westville; his seven grandchildren; his brothers, Jack Richards of Westville & Rex Richards of Danville; and his sisters, Sally (Bill) Bland of Danville, Carol Hutchens of Westville, Janet (Corky) Williams, Vicky (Mike) Cassidy of Texas; Lisa (Bill) Unzicker of Westville, Pat Bostwick of Georgetown, Pam (Ray) Hilleary of Danville, & Peggy (Steve) Cole of Florida. He was preceded in death by: his father, Rex; his sister, Donna; his infant sister, Mary Lee; his daughter-in-law, Miranda; and his nephews, Stephen Randall & Harold Maskel. Donald was a Jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed mushroom hunting, walking in the woods, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. What he loved above all was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by many. A celebration of Donalds life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, April 11th, 2009, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville. Bob Cornell will officiate. Visitation will be 10am to 12pm, Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. As were his wishes, Donald will be cremated. Memorial donations may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society.
