Donald "Don" R. Joyce

Danville – Donald “Don” R. Joyce, 81, of Danville, formerly of Bloomington, IL, passed away at 5:05 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 5, 1944, in Providence, KY to CV and Doshie (Andrews) Joyce. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Rodgers, on June 22, 1967, in Kentucky. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2014.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy (Matt) Hoose of Danville and Sara Harrington of Lubbock, TX; nieces and nephew, Michael Allen Haleman, Diana Haleman, and Karen Galde; and his cousin Ron (Judy) Andrews with whom Don always enjoyed sharing an adventure.

In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lois Evelyn Pardon.

After graduating high school, Don went on to earn his MS in Mathematics from Bradley University. His work brought him and his family from Kentucky to Bloomington, Il where he worked as the Manager of Auditing at State Farm Insurance until his retirement in 2006. Don was involved with the Bloomington Masonic Lodge #43 where he had achieved the rank of 32nd Degree Mason. He was also an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on during a sporting event. Those that knew him will remember Don as a “consummate gentlemen,” whether it was offering a helpful hand or simply insisting on holding open a door. Most of all, he loved his family. Don’s wife Barbara was his entire universe, and he cherished the time he had with her and his two girls.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Don Joyce will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Crittendon County, KY, near Providence where he will be laid to rest with his wife.
