Donald L. Davis, 74, of Georgetown passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday April 11, 2004 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on June 9, 1929 in Danville, IL the son of James and Ruth Mauck Davis. He married Helen Kennedy on December 12, 1952 in Danville, IL. She survives. Following High School, Mr. Davis served four years in the U.S. Army then worked thirty-four years at Bennett Lumber Company in Georgetown. He then worked six years at the Georgetown High School until his retirement in 1992. He was a former member of the Georgetown Fair Association, member of the Dornblaser Post 203, an official for the Love Twp. Board, and for many years Don and Helen were members of the Kaddiddlehoppers Square Dance Club. Also surviving are his two daughters, Donna (Tom) Oaks of Georgetown and Denise (Jim) Ellis of Kingman, IN, three grandsons, Jason (Melanie) McCool of Plainfield, IN, Tom McCool of Ridge Farm, and Josh (Kristen Young) McCool of Danville; one granddaughter, Casey Ellis of Kingman, IN; one sister, Carolyn (Roger) Tesch of Eagle River WI; one brother, James (Cathy) Davis of Reston, VI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Charlotte Reed of Dupont, WA, and one step-grandson, Jeremy Ellis. Don enjoyed being outdoors, working, mushrooming, visiting with friends and neighbors and most of all, spending time with his family
