Donald D. Knee

Donald Dean Knee, 83, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born December 18, 1937, in Danville, IL to Clifford L. Knee and Mable L. (Rayburn) Knee who have proceeded him in death. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1955.

He married L. Ann Clingan, June 1, 1958, at Saint Johns. They have two children, Kim (Jeff) Walsh and Kent (Cindy) Knee of Danville, IL. They have six grandchildren; Ryan (Char) Walsh, Meagan (Chad) Tabler, Micheal (Kailey) Burnett, Dustin (Sherry) Burnett, Kolt (Brandon Ennis) Knee and Kylie (Tyler) Knight, and 11 great grandchildren. Don is also survived by his sister, Judy Copas.

He was employed at Recording and Statistical Co. as a bookbinder for 21 years. Served as the president of International Bookbinders Union. He also worked for Wicks Lumber and Log City Lumber before entering into auto sales at Bob White Olds Cadillac GMC. Retiring in 2001 from auto sales at Royal Buick Pontiac.

He was a member of the Olive Branch #38 Danville Consistory, Eastern Illinois Shrine Club and Ansar Shrine. He was past Monarch of Danville GAO Grotto and president of GAO Grotto Clowns.

Don was a confirmed member of Danville United Church of Christ. Through the years he enjoyed rummage sales, flea markets, yard work, and woodworking. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Illini Basketball. He was the happiest being surrounded by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 1pm to 3pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. A Masonic service will take place at 3pm at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service officiated by Pastor James Blue. Cremation Rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 2pm on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
