Donald Creason

Donald R. Creason, 84, of Fithian, died Monday, April 17, 2023, at home.

He was born January 5, 1939, in Westville to Clifford and Lucile (Kick) Creason. He married Jane Swengel on June 16, 1961.

Don had a rough and tumble childhood in Hillery, the middle of the seven Creason kids. He loved the outdoors. He graduated from Oakwood High School and entered the National Guard where he was on a rifle team which won second in an Illinois competition. He was a cutthroat euchre player. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in Canada with Jane and the Van Buskirk family. Other travels included trips to California to visit the Swengel family, summer vacations with the Inlow family and friends on the Outer Banks, and company trips he won. He worked in the same building for Interstate Producers Livestock and then Vermilion Service Company for forty years. There he developed many close relationships with area farmers because of his competency and friendly personality. After retirement, he became a collector and seller of all things old and unusual. Most of all, Don was well known for his sense of humor and sharp wit. Stories of his antics are told and retold.

He is survived by his loving wife Jane, brother Clifford (Sarah) Creason, son Todd (Valerie) Creason, daughter Lockie (Chris) Inlow, grandchildren Jackie Creason, Cameron Inlow, Maddie Inlow, Katie Creason, and great-grandson Max Mathis.

He was preceded by his siblings Valerie Nickle, De McCord, Pat McCulloch, Jim Creason and Earl Creason.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 10-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
