Donald Lee Copsy, 90, of Ridge Farm, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on October 11, 1931, in Decatur, IL, the son of Walter and Mary (Mills) Copsy. He was married to Beverly Blackorby in 1953, until her passing in 1970. He then married Patricia Jackson in 1971, until her passing in 1996. He soon married Clara Lou Walker on June 29, 1997.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Clara Copsy; children, Shelley (Gary) Snider of Statesboro, GA, and Sandy (Ray) Howie of Oakwood, IL; stepchildren, Pam Lewsader of Chrisman, IL, Paula (Wayne) Geisert of Kokomo, IN, Theresa (Mike) of Chrisman, IL, Julie Pierson of Charleston, Christy (Crystal Vanderport) Walker of Williamsport, IN, and David (Holly) Walker of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Frances Kingen of Danville, IL. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, and Mary; siblings, Jackie, Bob, and Rebecca; stepdaughter, Joyce Ann Walker; stepson, George W. Walker.
Donald was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy for 2 years and then he spent 4 more years in the reserves. He then worked for Hysters in Danville for over 47 years until he retired. Donald loved his wood working, he would make all kinds of furniture, clocks, flowerpots and many more things. He enjoyed bowling when he was younger and watching the Chicago Cubs and the Illini Basketball. He was known for being a prankster in his family always making them laugh. He cherished his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Donalds life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, IL, 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Pastor James Blue will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home prior to the service. per Donalds wish he will be cremated following the service. He will laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to American Lung Association.
