Don Dukes

GEORGETOWN- Don E. Dukes, 78 of Georgetown passed away at 4:47am Monday November 29, 2004 at Provena USMC Logan Campus in Danville. He was born on March 29, 1926 in Danville, the son of Clarence E. Dukes and Eva M. (Bell) Dukes. Don married Maysie (Donaldson) on March 21, 1948 in Georgetown. She preceded him in death in 1991. Surviving family members that will deeply miss Don are his two children, James W. Dukes and Donna (Dale) Brooks both of Georgetown. Also surviving are Don's four grandchildren, Ian Dukes of Westville, Anneca and Gage of Georgetown, and Ashley (Matt) Johnson of Rochester N.Y., as well as his two step grandchildren, Erin and Tony Brooks, both of Georgetown and his two great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Macey Dukes, both of Westville. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his son Jeff. While in the Navy, Don served his country with pride during WWII. After being Honorable discharged, he settle back in Georgetown as a farmer and rural letter carrier. In his spare time he took up memberships at the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 as well as an American Legion located in Kingman IN. Don enjoyed farming, working with animals, antiques, collecting guns and being with his family.
