Dolores 'Lola' Ann Smith

Savoy - Dolores "Lola" Ann Smith, 88, passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2017 in Savoy, IL. She was born on June 10, 1928 in Urbana, IL to Wayne Virgil and Anna Marie (Fitzsimmons) Shell. Dolores married George Spence on December 6, 2010 in Urbana, IL. Dolores is survived by her husband; children Mike (Tammy) Smith, Ron (Brenda) Smith, Rick (Janet) Smith, and Marvis (Jon) Orzek; grandchildren Craig, Michelle, April, Chad, Dustin, Cody, Trevor, Chris, and Nicole; great-grandchildren Demetrius, Lincoln, Juniper, Tristan, Kori, Devin, Lexi, Gunner, Kaleb, Braxton, and Harley; and sister Molly Lou Clem. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Doug Smith; sister Peggy Jean Prahl; and her beloved grand-dog Dixie. Dolores grew up in the Mt. Vernon church; she was born again at age 42 and attended the Vineyard Church in Urbana. Dolores was a retired first grade teacher. She was passionate about teaching English as a second language, and taught students for a year in Monterey, Mexico. Dolores was active in the lives of her grandchildren and she published a book about her dog Dixie. A celebration of Dolores's life will be held at the Vineyard Church. Time TBA.
