Dolores E. Dossey

Dolores Dossey, born December 23, 1928, in Hoopeston, Il, to Porter and Leila (Foster) Vliet, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Danville, Il. Dolores was a graduate of Rossville High School, Class of 1946. She worked for Prudential as an assistant office supervisor and after marriage transferred to Cleveland Ohio to work in Prudential's Mortgage & Loan office. In 1953 she returned to Danville, Il working at the VA Hospital until her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed the flea markets, antique shows, shopping and delivered Meals on Wheels to those in need. Dolores is survived by her dear husband Norlyn, with whom she was united in marriage on October 19, 1952, in Rossville, Il.; her cherished children, Vance D. (Karen) Dossey, Jan E. (David) Carley, and John Vliet (Susan) Dossey; her loving grandchildren, Noralynne Carley, Stephanie Carley, Lauren (Scott) Ludlow, Megan (Jared) Robertson, Aaron (Janelle) Dossey, Brianne (Sam) Alkire, Evan Dossey, Jacob Dossey, Rachel Dossey, Samuel Dossey; and by her 10 great-grandchildren; along with many other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Patricia Norton and Portia Smith. A celebration of Dolores' life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 Vermilion St., Danville, visitation Saturday, June 13, 2015, 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service, with Reverend Nathan Jeffries officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials in Dolores' name may be made to American Heart Association or The Humane Society.
