Divina Labayen

Divina Dela Paz Labayen, 71, of Rossville, IL passed away on Friday January 21, 2022 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. She was born in Pangasinan, Philippines on October 11, 1950. She is the daughter of Roslin and Mercedes Dela Paz. She married the love of her life Edsel Labayen on January 9, 1970, he survives.

Divina is also survived by her daughter, Pamela Adam; son, Angelo Antonio Labayen; grandchildren, Kraven, Baby Tony and Finan Labayen; son-in-law Matthew Adam; daughter-in-law Ralyn Dela Cruz and siblings: Patterson Dela Paz, Roslin Dela Paz Jr., Russel Dela Paz, Rommel Dela Paz, and Reagan Dela Paz; Niece Patty and her husband Frederick.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roslin and Mercedes; sisters Adelina Dizon and Rosemarie Dela Paz Gautane, and brother Ronald Dela Paz.

Divina was a truly generous and caring woman and was known as Mama to everyone. She loves making people laugh and enjoyed laughing and goofing off. She usually stayed up late just bonding with her daughter over midnight snacks and talking till morning light. Divine enjoyed crocheting, playing candy crush and cooking. Everyone loved her pancit and Philippine egg rolls. She also enjoyed hiking in the woods, fishing and mushroom hunting. She loved music, flowers, and the beach. Divina also loved to rummage. She particularly loved stuffed animals and cute trinkets. She would adopt abandoned dolls and crochet clothes for them. Her favorite hangout was Twisted Sisters in Rossville. She was the coolest mom to her children and wife to her beloved husband of 52 years.

Her infectious smile would light up even the darkest of rooms. Her strength was an inspiration to many people. Her kind and thoughtful ways touched everyone she met. No words were left unsaid by her or her immediate family who was by her bedside when God called her home. She made sure she told them how much she loved them and that she would fight. And fought she did to the very end. She truly was an amazing woman who was not afraid of anything.. not even death. Her Trust and Faith in God never wavered even in the face of adversity.
