Dianne Kay Lockwood, 61 years of age, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Hawthorne Inn.
Dianne was born on December 9, 1961, the daughter of John "Jack" and Ruby Lockwood of Oakwood.
She grew up in the Oakwood/Fithian area until moving to Urbana after graduating from Oakwood High School. She attended Parkland College.
Dianne spent the past 23 years as a legal assistant at Heyl, Royster Law Firm. She loved her job and her work family. She also worked part-time at Hawthorne Inn as a receptionist where she was "the face of the place" every other weekend. Dianne loved greeting everyone and enjoyed getting to know the residents and their families. Prior to working at Heyl Royster, she worked at Dobrovolny Law Office, Champaign Telephone Company, ISU, and Clarke Lindsey.
Diannes biggest and proudest accomplishments were her son Jordan Cole Lockwood who was the light of her life and her two grandsons, Adrian and Ashton Lockwood who her world revolved around. She made sure to attend every school and sporting event she could to support them and loved to talk about them and show their photos to family and friends. Spending time with the three of them was her favorite pastime.
Dianne was known by all as a wonderful baker. She loved to bake for others and always wanted to make sure to "perfect" her recipes. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, craft shows, decorating for the holidays and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and spending time with her family and friends.
Dianne moved back to Oakwood in 2017 to help take care of her mom, moving right across from her. Dianne would often comment how glad she was she had made that decision as she got to spend quality time with her mom prior to her passing.
Dianne leaves behind her seven siblings who are deeply mourning this unexpected loss; Michael (LRee) Fetters, Becky Schoon, Cathy Boyer, Cassandra (Kevin) Smith, Lisa Williams, Amy (Chuck) Thompson and J.J. Lockwood as well as 15 nieces and nephews who all adored her, several cousins, and a host of friends.
Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, Gary Boyer and Don Schoon and one nephew, Colton Wright.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hawthorne Inn for taking care of her and to her Heyl Royster family for their love and support.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Dianne will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main Street Oakwood, IL. As per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following visitation.
