Diane Lynette Davis,67, of Danville, IL, passed this life on Wed Nov 29, 2017. She transitioned peacefully in her sleep in her home with her trusty sidekick and pet companion, Leon, by her side. Diane was born Aug 28, 1950 in Cairo, IL to the union of Joseph Sr and Clentteria Davis. She is survived by her brothers from this union, Rev Joseph Jr (Betty) Davis of Milledgeville, GA and Steven Davis of Rantoul, IL. Diane attended Danville schools and graduated from Danville High in 1968. She had taken college courses with an interest in psychology. She worked for The City of Danville as a Housing Inspector for over 20 years. After leaving the city she became an entrepreneur and opened and operated an in-home daycare for several years. This transition was natural as, "Diane loved the kids" and you could find children at her house often. She loved planning sleepovers, watching movies and eating ice cream with her grandkids, great cousins and neighborhood kids. Dianes hobbies included fishing, sewing, crocheting, swimming and reading the word. She played on the UAW softball team as a young woman and was known for her love of pets; Especially boxers. She is a former member of The Untouchables Motorcycle Club Pool team and was a Captain for two years. She enjoyed bowling on a league and has numerous patches for her accomplishments. Diane accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized at an early age. She was a longtime member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. The Ladies of Antioch and Rev Barber continued communion in her home. She treasured these moments and looked forward to their visits. She is also survived by siblings, M. Kay Davis Shepherd (John) of Danville, IL, Jonathon Taylor of Danville, IL and Brian (Sheila) Taylor of Montgomery, IL. She leaves behind her children, Errin DaReese Davis of Indianapolis, IN and William Davis of Danville, IL. She absolutely adored her first grandbaby, Teriana Lynette Davis, of Indianapolis, IN. Her grandbabies were her pride and joy and her love surrounds them;Ravyn Dru & William Eric Davis, II of Danville, IL and Olivia and Ellisyn Woodard of Indianapolis, IN. Diane had a host of nieces, nephews and greats that she kept in touch with. Too many to name, but no less in her heart. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister ClayEsta Burton and niece, Stacy Burton. A Celebration of Diane's life will be held on Saturday December 9th, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, 3940 N. Vermilion St. at 4pm.
