Diana L. Carter

Diana L. Carter, 65 of Richmond, KY, formerly of Westville, IL, went to be with God and lost loved ones on July 23, 2011. She was born July 6, 1946, in Danville, the daughter of Paul and Evelyn (Huckstadt) Dettman. They both preceded her in death. She married Terry A. Carter on September 25, 1965 in Danville. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2010. Other survivors include her daughter; Julie (Ben) Carter Smith of Danville, and her son; Jeff (Heather) Carter of Richmond, KY. Six grandchildren; Amber Smith, Ashley Smith, Alyssa Smith, all of Danville, Aiden Carter, Emma Carter, and Dylan Carter, all of Richmond, KY, one great-grandson; Wyatt Carter Smith of Danville, one brother; Mark (Donna) Dettman of Batavia, IL, one sister; Becky (Herb) Logan of Brentwood, TN, several nieces and nephews, a special sister-in-law; Kay Thomason, and many other close relatives and friends also survive Diana. In addition to her parents and husband Terry, her granddaughter; Amanda Smith also preceded Diana in death. She was retired from banking and enjoyed reading, going to rummage sales, shopping, and selling on eBay, but most importantly, she loved to spend as much time as she could with her entire family. She loved her grandkids more than anything in the world, and was the best wife, mother, and grandmother that anyone could ever ask for. She will be with us forever in our hearts. A Celebration of Diana Carter's Life will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to follow at Springhill Cemetery. Pastor James Blue has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Diana's name to "The Relay for Life".
