Tangier, Ind. -- Dessire Livengood, 98, of Tangier, passed away at 10:25 p.m. EDT Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 6, 1913, in Silverwood, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Lunsford Goodwin. She married Winfred "Dutch" Livengood on November 30, 1931 in Rockville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2006. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Bishop of Tangier, Indiana; Betty Sowers of Rockville, Indiana; Bonnie(Royce)Austin of Bloomington, Indiana and one son, Billy(Donna)Livengood of Mitchell, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred L. Potter of Danville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Livengood; one grandson; one great great grandson; two brothers and two sisters. Dessire attended Cayuga High School. She was a retired snowbird spending most of her time in south Texas. She was a member of the Howard Ladies Aide. Dessire enjoyed fishing, quilting, crocheting and making crafts for the Covered Bridge Festival. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, October 8, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Miller Cemetery, Lodi, Indiana; Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday, October 7, 2011 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.
