MAHOMET - Dennis Edward Stack, 66, of Mahomet, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his immediate family on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born December 14, 1948 in Danville, he was the son of Donald and Rita (Kramer) Stack. Dennis attended St. Patrick's Grade School in Danville, then graduated from Centralia Township High School in 1967. He was a 1969 graduate of Kaskaskia Junior College and a 1971 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Dennis married the love of his life, Patti Borrenpohl, on October 13, 1973 in Okawville, Illinois. Dennis worked for over 39 years at KONE, formerly Montgomery Elevator and Escalators. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mahomet. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved playing with his grandkids. He was an avid pheasant hunter, and appreciated being in nature, listening to the birds, and working in the yard. Sitting on the back porch gave him great pleasure. Boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, and snow skiing with family and friends were some of his favorite past times. He was very good at taking things apart and repairing them, and was a collector of antique clocks. Dennis is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Patti Stack of Mahomet; three children, Dawn (Steve) Huls of St. Joseph, Andrea Stack of Mahomet, and Brandyn (Heidi) Stack of Lafayette, Indiana; four grandchildren, Aaron Stack, Morgan Huls, Madison Huls, and Makenzie Huls; four brothers, John (Judy) Stack of Centralia, Illinois, Jerome (Jeanne) Stack of Chebanse, Illinois, Stanley (Sharon) Stack of Belleville, Illinois, and Thomas (Bridgette) Stack of Mansfield, Texas; two sisters, Margaret Bedard of Highland, Illinois, and Theresa Oldham of Salem, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Donna Stack; and siblings, Mark Stack, Barbara Boyd, Mary Stack, and Joseph Stack. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mahomet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Pheasants Forever, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N.
