Dennis "Denny" Ray Van Note, 71, of Danville, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Dennis was born on September 10th, 1940, in Veedersburg, Indiana, the son of Thomas "Dude" and Cleo (Keller) Van Note. He married Judy Cohoon on January 18th, 1962, in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by one daughter- Michelle (Jason) O'Connell of Danville; two sister- Brenda Van Note of Indiana and Joni Jones of California; one grandson- Brandon O'Connell of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and close friend- Ed (Billie Jo) Hinote of Danville and numerous other special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Larry Van Note. Denny graduated from Veedersburg High School. He owned Zebart Rust Proofing and Motorworld in Danville for several years. He also worked at TJ's Tackle Box as a marine mechanic, until he retired. Denny was a flat track racer in his younger years, spending his time racing all around the area. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, cooking and canning. Denny's greatest passion was fishing, where he won several trophies. He was a member of the Illini Bass Club. A Celebration of the Life of Dennis "Denny" Ray Van Note will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21st, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Per Denny's wishes he will be cremated. Memorials may be made in Denny's name to the donor's choice.
