Dennis Lucas, Sr.

Dennis Lucas, Sr., 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 2:20pm, Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on August 24, 1949, in Williamsport, Indiana, the son of William Herman and Delilah Mae {Kennedy} Lucas, both deceased. On October 7, 1967, he was united in marriage to Janet Davis in Williamsport, IN. She survives. He is also survived by: his children, Dennis R. (Heather) Lucas Jr. of Chrisman, Richard E. (Pamela J) Lucas of Chrisman, Nathan L. Lucas of Ridge Farm, Amy R. Lucas of Georgetown, & Ryan A. Lucas of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Dawnita, Danielle, Zachary, Harrison, Kylie, Kristina, Aubree, Dylan, Brynlee, Steven, Desiree, Emily, Madison, his 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Bill (Linda) Lucas & Steven Lucas, both of Indiana; his sisters, Margery (Richard) Glenn, Mary Waling, Edie (Richard) Wesley, & Karen (Guye) Hurd, all of Indiana; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Lucas; his brother, David Lucas; and his sister, Linda Spear. Dennis drove a truck for Bill Smith Auto Parts and retired in 1992. He served as an alderman for Ward 4 for the City of Georgetown, later went on to serve as Mayor. He volunteered and worked for Georgetown School District. He was a member of the Williamsport Church of Christ and attended First Church of Christ in Georgetown. His legacy will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Denniss life will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday prior to his service at the funeral home. It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by those in attendance of the visitation and service. As per his wishes, he will be accorded cremation rites and later will be laid to rest in West Lebanon Cemetery in Indiana.
