Dennis Knoll

Dennis G. Knoll, 57, of Catlin, passed away at 2:02pm on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on April 17, 1951, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Lynn and Donna (Gray) Knoll. On February 24, 1979, Dennis married June Papst in Pittsburgh, PA. She survived along with their four sons; Steven Knoll of Allen, TX, Kevin Knoll of Catlin, Keith Knoll of Catlin, and Jonathan Knoll, of Catlin. His 13 siblings, Michael (Claudia) Knoll of Ossining N.Y., James (Kathy) Knoll of Corpus Christi, TX, Mary (Michael) Luick, of Belmond, IA, Paul Knoll of Anaheim CA, John (Roylene) Knoll of Belmond, IA, Kathryn (Bill) Cahill of Danville, Patrice (David) Whitty of Lancaster, WI, Jeannie (Pat) McWhorter of Belmond, IA, Kevin (Deb) of Belmond, IA, Elizabeth (Bernard) Barrett of Belmond, IA, Angela (Dennis) Olson of Belmond, IA, Sherrie (Brad) Kunecke of Atchison, KS, Matthew (Kim) Knoll of Wesley, IA. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Dolly Papst of Pittsburgh, his two sisters-in- law, Petra Papst of Pittsburgh, Beth (Jim) Andoga of Highland Village, TX, his 57 nieces and nephews and many many friends. His parents precede him in death. Dennis received his associates degree from NIACC. His business ventures included owning and operating several truck stops, including, Knolls Oakwood Truck Plaza, Joshuas Family Restaurant, and real estate developments. Dennis was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville, and past Catlin School Board member. His greatest joys came from spending time with his family and friends, as well as playing bridge, golf, and fishing. He was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye Fan GO HAWKEYES, and will be missed by all that knew him.
