Dennis Henson

Dennis R. Henson, 77, of Danville passed away at 9:15 AM on September 12, 2023 at Goldwater Care in Danville, IL.

Dennis was born on July 29, 1946 the son of Fred and Mary (Martin) Henson in Danville, IL. He married Brenda Rigdon on January 4, 1994 in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Henson, five sons, Jamie (Christina Clore) Henson of Crawfordsville, IN, Charlie (Shelly) Penry of Georgetown, IL, Andrew (Lorelyn) Henson of Rantoul, IL, Matt Elliott of Rankin, IL and Jason (Heather) Elliott of Oakwood, IL, 21 grandchildren as well as 19 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Carol Hasler of Terre Haute, IN, a brother-in-law, Melvin Phenicie of Ridge Farm, IL as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Henson, one sister, Janice Phenicie and one nephew, Doug Phenicie.

Dennis worked for the State building bridges, as well as Bohn Aluminum and Hyster. Later in life he was a car salesman and followed his dream of opening his own dealership, Hensons Auto Sales. Dennis was a member of the United Church of Tilton and active in his church. He was gifted with the ability to play the piano, keyboard, and bass guitar. Dennis used those talents to participate in the worship team band. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs and in his younger years was an avid Pool player.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Gary Hendricks will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Dennis memory to the United Church of Tilton Childrens/Youth Programs or the church Worship Music Program.
