Danville - Dennis Harmon, 81, of Danville, passed away on April 28, 2014 in Danville. He was born December 9, 1932 in Peoria, IL the son of Arthur and Alta (Harris) Harmon. He married Maxine Elliott on May 5, 1973 in Danville. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; his son Tom (Elizabeth) Harmon of Crystal Lake, IL; his daughter, Karla (Jerry) Crowder of Plano, TX; his sister, Judy Svymbersky of Peoria, IL; his brother-in-law, David Waugh of Peoria, IL; his sister-in-law, Martha Wedge of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren, Kendra Wigger, Tyler Wigger, Karlee Crowder, Moriah Crowder, Virginia Crowder, Arlo Harmon, and Gabriel Harmon; his three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean; and his brother, Arthur Jr. Dennis graduated from the Peoria Spaulding Institute in 1950. He served his country in Coco Solo Panama as a Naval Aviator. Dennis was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, a trait that he passed onto his son Tom. Dennis truly loved to go camping and fishing, especially with his family; Dennis took his family every year to Roaring River State Park in MO. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 210 and The Knights of Columbus. Above all else Dennis loved his family and he will be greatly missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. A celebration of Dennis life will be held at 10am on Friday May 2, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. A visitation will be held on Thursday May 1, 2014 from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Dennis name to The American Legion Post 210 or The Danville Knights of Columbus.
