Dennis F Eakin

Dennis Floyd Eakin, 75, of Danville passed away on Thursday December 14th, 2017 at Presence Covenant Medical Hospital in Urbana, IL with family by his side. Dennis was born on June 6th, 1942 in Council Bluffs, IA., the son of Glen Albert and Beatrice (Haworth) Eakin. Dennis married the love of his life Janet Isenburg on April 19th, 1973 they have enjoyed each other's company for forty-five years. She survives. Dennis is survived by his children David (Sandra) Eakin, Shawn (Ed) McCusker, Jamie (Bill) Hienkel, Denise Eakin, and Tracy (David) Tweed, ten grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother and four sisters. Dennis graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, IA, he was a member of the Boy Scouts. Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 until 1972, in 1972 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. Dennis then retired from the US Coast Guard in 1984, he then went to work for the Civil Service working for the US Coast Guard he retired from there in 2005. Dennis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville, IL. He also was a member of the VFW and American Legion. A visitation for Dennis will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday December 29th, 2017 from 9-11am. Services will be at 11am at the church with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Danville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made in Dennis's name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
