Dennis 'Denny' W. Vinson, 59, of Danville passed away early Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. Denny was born September 14, 1956 in Danville, IL. He is the son of Robert and Ruth Vinson. He is a 1975 graduate of Oakwood High School. He married Brenda Lee Lewis on July 31, 2009. Denny is survived by his wife Brenda Lee, his children Heather Vinson of Ocala, FL, Jessica (Joe) Smiley of Oakwood, IL and Chad (Jenny) Vinson of Clarksville, TN; his stepchildren Brandy (Cheston) Hays of Paris, IL, Davy (Shanna) Lewis of Covington, IN, Candy Lee Lewis of Westville, IL and Danny (Kayla) Lewis of Potomac, IL. He leaves behind his two brothers, Robert (Bonita) Vinson and KP Vinson, as well as two sisters Jody (Steve) West and Cindi Bennett. He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren Colby, Shelby, William, James, Joshua, Nathan, Alivia, Drake, Addison, and a baby on the way. Denny also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mark Vinson, and one granddaughter Jacey Lynn Vinson. Denny worked for Local 624 as a laborer until his retirement in 2010. The majority of his years were spent working with Schaumburg & Schaumburg Construction where he considered many of his coworkers to be his close friends. Denny was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Fighting Illini, Bobby Pierce Racing, and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. However, Denny took the most pride when cheering on his family and their Oakwood Comet teammates. Throughout his early years Denny enjoyed dirt track racing, camping, and riding ATV's. Later, during retirement, Denny especially enjoyed golfing with his good friends Ron Wolfe and Wilbur Winkler at Blue Needles Golf Course where Denny was a board member. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Labayog and his wonderful nursing staff at Presence Regional Cancer Center. As per his wishes, Denny will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main St, Oakwood, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family would like for memorial donations to be given in Denny's name to Oakwood High School Booster Club.
