Denise Carlson

Denise Aline Carlson (Grupe), 67, of Tilton, IL passed away on July 25, 2017 in Champaign, IL. She was born on March 16, 1950, in Champaign, daughter of Clark and Lois Grupe. As a young girl, Denise liked to visit the creek, write stories, play dress-up and spend time with her best friend, Carole. Her calling in life was nursing, where she exceled with her endless supply of compassion. There were so many things to love about her, but what stood out immediately was her warmth and generosity for people from all walks of life. She was active in many churches and wrote newspaper articles on issues that were important to her. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing gospel in church and oldies at karaoke. She will be missed and remembered by her family and friends more than words can express, but she will forever live in their hearts. Denise is survived by her father of Tipton, IN; four children, Wesley Harrison of Collison, IL, Dave (Shelby) Baybordi of Troy, IL, Mo Baybordi of Bloomington, IL and Sarah Baybordi of Danville, IL; seven grandchildren, Lacee (Derek) Darr, Hunter Harrison, Mason Harrison, Sadie Baybordi, Annabelle Baybordi, Molly Baybordi and Barrett Baybordi; one great-grandson, Leighton Darr; two brothers, Dennis (Carla) Grupe and Keith (Chris) Grupe; and two sisters Sybil (Luis) Vera, Linda (Leroy) McGehee. Preceding her in death is her mother. A Celebration of Life Service will commence at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville.
