Dr. Demeter Christoff, 89, of Shell Point Retirement Village in Fort Myers, Florida, died September 27, 2010. Dr. Christoff was born in Hebeli, Bulgaria and immigrated with his family to Chicago when he was 6 years old. He attended primary and secondary schools in Chicago and the University of Illinois in Urbana where he met his future wife, Wintress. He graduated in 1943 and then attended the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry in Chicago, graduating in 1946. He then served three years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1949. Dr. Christoff practiced dentistry in Ottawa, Illinois from 1949 to 1986 and was active in church and civic organizations. He enjoyed golf, boating, fishing and music, and was a devoted father to his four children. He and his wife Wintress recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Dr. Christoff was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Surviving are his wife and children: Martha Pulleyn (John), Jim Christoff (Connie), Soo Christoff and Ann Dwyer (John), 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
