Delores 'Tooty' D. Rice

Delores D. Tooty Rice, 89, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:35am, Monday, August 19, 2013, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. She was born on November 20, 1923, in Veedersburg, IN, the daughter of James O. and Mary E. {Reid} Hayes, both deceased. She was united in marriage to William F. Rice, Sr. in November 1942 until his passing on August 14, 1987. She is survived by: her sons, William Bill Rice Jr. of Georgetown & Daniel Rice of Tyler, TX; her grandchildren, Karen Rice of Georgetown, Michael Rice of Mattoon, and John (Melinda) Rice of Clever, MO; her great grandchildren, Lauren Rice, Aaron Rice, & Allison Rice, all of Clever, MO; and her brother, George Hayes of Helendale, CA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Oren OD Hayes. Delores was a member of the First Church of Christ since 1955 and of the Dan-GEs. She enjoyed volunteering at the Georgetown Fair for many years, as well as, Pleasant Meadows Christian Village. She also served on the Georgetown High School Booster Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, plastic canvas needle point, and she especially enjoyed making Christmas ornaments. Delores was an avid gardener and fisherman. A celebration of Delores life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, August 23, 2013, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Phil Miller & Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 12p-2p on Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her name to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.
