Della Susan (Woods) Ryan passed on July 25, 2024 at the Mi Casa Nursing Home in Mesa, AZ.
Sue, or Susie as she was known to her friends and family, was born to James William Woods and Idalee Mae (Matteucci) Woods on December 14, 1958. She married Michael Ryan in Danville, IL on December 1, 1979. They have two sons Michael and Derek and four Grandsons.
Sue loved to spend her time with her family, her pets and visiting friends both in Danville and Mesa.
Susan spent her childhood in Danville, attending schools on the east side, and graduated from Danville Sr. High School in 1977. She attended Danville Jr. College and worked at Lake View Hospital until moving to the Chicago area in 1982, and then Sterling, VA in 1990 where her husband worked for AT&T. In Sterling, Sue worked front office management for Cardinal Bakery and BuildingOne supply. But wherever she went, she always spent the summers back in Danville. Sue returned to the Danville area full time in 2002, living at 1611 N. Vermilion St where she loved to entertain while restoring the house that was built in 1895 and where the family celebrated many happy holidays together. Sue and Mike retired to Mesa AZ in 2021.
Sue came from a large family with three sisters and two brothers.
Sue is survived by her husband, her sons, Michael (Meghan) Ryan II and Derek Ryan and Michaels four sons Andrew, Xander, Aston and Ares. She was a sister to Lutricia (Phil) McDonald of Danville, Patricia Turner of Danville, Becky (Dale) Thomas of Louisville, KY and her brother, Wesley Woods of Danville along with twenty-seven nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by both parents, James and Idalee, and her brother, Jimmy (James) Woods.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the funeral home.
