Delia Jessup

Delia Jessup, 74, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

She was born November 26, 1949, in Donna, Texas, daughter of the late Felipe and Maria (Garza) Salinas.

Delia married Michael Jessup on October 26, 1968, in Hoopeston, Illinois, and he survives.

Surviving along with her husband are her children: Joe Salinas, Amy Haluska, Michael (Neeley) Jessup Jr., and Floyd (Becky) Jessup; her grandchildren: Allie (Donnie) Swaim, Isabella Jessup, Gracie Jessup, Eve Jessup, Coleman Jessup, Ben Jessup, Josie Salinas and Joey Salinas; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend: Dee Buenting.

Along with her parents, Delia was preceded in death by one brother: Felipe Salinas Jr.

Delia was known for her big heart and always putting other people first before herself. She spent her years professionally as an Activity Assistant for Vermilion Manor Nursing Home and Danville Care. When not attending her grandkids social activities Delia could always be found at home relaxing and listening to Mexican music, watching her telenovelas, Spanish gameshows, ID Discovery channel, cheering on her favorite football team (the Dallas Cowboys), or playing Bingo. Most of all Delia looked forward to visits from her grandkids, spending time with her family and friends here in Illinois and in Texas.

A Celebration of Life for Delia will take place at 2PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with Pastor James Blue officiating at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1PM-2PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the funeral home in Danville.
