Delcena Austin

Delcena Austin, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. She was born on December 27, 1934 the daughter of Arthur and Flossie (Larkin) Edenburn in Potomac, IL.

Preceding Delcena in death are her parents; her husband, Lawrence Austin; son, Cy Austin; and grandchild, Brian Harden.

Delcena leaves behind her children, Donna Morse, Janice (Myreon) Reitsma, and Sherri Austin; grandchildren, Tamara, Brad, Mackenzie, Cy, Richard, Alasa, Christine, and Kati; eleven great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.

Lawrence and Delcena were married in 1951 and built their home in 1957 where they lived their entire lives. Delcena loved hosting, their house was often filled with the aroma of her famous vegetable soup and pumpkin pie. Her countertops were frequently covered in roses made of buttercream icing and flour to roll out her homemade noodles. Their house was "home for the holidays" to their children and grandchildren and the place to play games with friends and family. Delcena worked at several places, including Teepak, and retired from Danville Township. She loved reading, knitting, and watching birds from her porch swing. Delcena loved serving the Lord and was a member of South Side Church of Christ for many decades. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and arranged dinners.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Minister Dave Martin. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the South Side Church of Christ.
