Delbert Dale Bromley, 88, of Danville, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on April 12, 2008 at 11:40 a.m. at the VA Illiana Health Care System of Danville. Delbert was born February 28, 1920, in Georgetown, the son of James E. and Lillian (Tanner) Bromley. He married Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Hughes on May 28, 1944. She survives. Delbert is also survived by two daughters, Linda (Daniel) Dice of Bismarck and Carol (Douglas) Mutter of Anchorage, AK; two brothers, Curtis (Barb) Bromley of Murfreesboro, TN and George (Mary) Bromley of Georgetown; four grandchildren; Danella (Kent) Reining of Bismarck, Dale (Barb Sinclair) Dice of Bismarck, Elizabeth (Robert) Bracco, Robert (Cheryl Hickey) Durnell; one step-grandson, Kenneth Mutter of Kearney, NE; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Zane, Tyson Reining, Luke, Lexi Dice, Rheyse Sinclair, all of Bismarck, Cody Kirk and Marissa Bracco, both of Anchorage, AK; special nephews, Doug and Randy (Becky) Roberson and many nieces and nephews. Both parents, one sister, Mary Roberson and one brother, James Bromley, preceded him in death. Delbert served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was in the Battle of Midway and also Iwo Jima. He spent 3-1/2 years in the Pacific. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served as President of the Mens Club and a member of the Administration Committee. He was a member of VFW Post 728. He also belonged to Masonic Lodge, Georgetown, and a former member of the Elks Club. He loved to play golf and travel. Delbert spent many summers working for the Conservation Department at Lake Vermilion. A celebration of Delberts life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Danville with Rev. Richard Sullin officiating and military rights being presented by the VFW. Burial will be held at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Sunset Funeral Home, 3040 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, is in charge of arrangements.
