Delbert 'Alan' Powell

Delbert "Alan" Powell, 75, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

He was born May 13, 1949, in Danville, Illinois, son of the late Pete and Allie (Hobbs) Powell.

Alan first married Debbie Winn and had one child together, Pete Powell. He later married Mary Fisher.

Alan is survived by his son: Pete (Kristi) Powell of Danville, Illinois; his sister: Marilyn Schroeter; his grandchildren: Arianna Powell, Conner Powell and Brielle Powell; one niece: Amy Mackiewicz; and one nephew: Corey Schroeter.

Along with his parents, Alan was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley Powell and Steve Powell.

Alan was a graduate of Oakwood High School and later went on to work for several construction companies over the years as a heavy machine operator. His hard work carried over at home and he could often be found operating his excavator and skid steer around the property. In his spare time, Alan enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. More than anything, Alan loved going to watch his grandchildren play in sports and spend time with his family and his dogs.

A Celebration of Life for Alan will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, with Nathan Lenstra officiating at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9AM-10AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the funeral home.
