Deborah (Debbie) L. Hall, 42, of Blacksburg, VA, died at 10:44 p.m. Friday September 17, 2004 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born March 9, 1962, in Danville, the daughter of Gaylord C. Hall and Roberta A. (Ward) Hall. Surviving are her parents, Gaylord Hall of Danville; Roberta Hall (Bill Simpson of Hindsboro, IL) of Lakeland, FL; one brother, C. Allan (Debbie) Hall of Georgetown, two sisters, Michelle (Bobby) Vascura of Danville; and Melinda Hall of Clermont, FL; 4 nieces, Clarissa, Baylea, and Callan Hall, of Georgetown and Megan Vascura of Danville; her maternal grandmother, Virginia Ward, of Lakeland, FL; one uncle, Don Ward, Lakeland, FL; and her dogs, Max and Keely. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Melvin, Sr. and Mildred Hall, maternal grandfather, David Ward, one uncle, Melvin Hall, Jr., two aunts, Lillian (Hall) Maxedon and Davida (Ward) Wolfe. She was a 1980 graduate of Catlin High School. She received her B.S. in business from Illinois State University. She later took classes in Virginia, earning her teaching certificate. From 1985 to 2001, Debbie worked for and was a manager at Kay Jewelers in locations including, Springfield, and Carbondale, IL, and Christiansburg, VA. For the last two years, she was a teacher at the Noel C. Taylor Learning Academy in the Roanoke City (VA) school district. She had a wide variety of interests. In high school, she competed in the Illinois state pageant of the Miss National Teenager pageant, winning the title of Miss Hospitality. She was also active in Junior Achievement and a member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. Her hobbies included travel, photography, painting, whitewater rafting, and Virginia Tech sports. She loved animals and helping others to achieve their best.
