Cayuga, Ind. - Debbie Lynn (Capehart) Ray, 63, went home to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2015, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Debbie was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 19, 1952, to Rev. Herb and Betty (Shinn) Capehart. She married Alan Ray on August 3, 1974 in Leon, West Virginia. Survivors include her husband, Alan of Cayuga, Indiana; daughter, Cheryl(Adam) Burge of Winona, Minnesota; son, Matthew (Kelly) Ray of Menomonie, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Audrey and Caleb Burge; Luke and Seth Ray; mother, Betty Capehart of New Haven, West Virginia; sisters, Lynette (Joe) Johnson of New Haven, West Virginia and Kelley (Mark) Bell of Leon, West Virginia; brother, Kevin Capehart of New Haven, West Virginia and many nieces and nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Herb Capehart. Debbie graduated high school in 1970 from Winfield High School, Winfield, West Virginia and college in 1974 from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. Debbie worked as a teachers' assistant for 10 years at North Vermillion Elementary School to finance her children's college educations. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker! She enjoyed her family, flower garden, and walking or bicycling with her husband. She was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana, where she served her Lord Jesus in various ministries, including teaching children's Bible classes. She loved to daily read and study her Bible and sing Christian hymns with her family. She was eagerly "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ!" Titus 2:13. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Adam Burge and Pastor William Lehman; Burial: Miller Cemetery, Lodi, Indiana; Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. EST Friday, February 20, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
