Debbie Hawkins

Oakwood- Debbie Hawkins, 55, of Oakwood, passed away at 12:15 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 10, 1955 in Danville to Clifford and Esther Delaney Lappin. She married J.R. Hawkins on February 10, 1996 In Collison. He survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Billie Jo (Chris) Legros of Danville and Bobbie Jo (Mark) Cline of Oakwood; 2 sons, Steve Hawkins of Winterhaven, FL and J.D. (Megan) Hawkins of Oakwood; 5 brothers and 9 sisters; 10 grandchildren, Cole, Dillon, Kristian, Clayton, Devin, Quinten, Dakoda, Isabella, Jayden, and Sarah; and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter Destiny. Debbie enjoyed bowling, cooking, baking, crafts and playing her guitar. She loved the outdoors and liked to go mushroom hunting and tend to her garden. She was a member at the Hebron United Methodist Church in Newtown and read her bible regularly. Debbie liked helping others, but especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Debbie Hawkins will be held at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Kim Dancey will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be from 3-4:30 PM prior to the service at Sunset. Memorials may be made to the family.
