Deanna Wichtowski

Deanna Rae Wichtowski passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at her home in Westville, Illinois. She was born on January 3, 1954, in Danville, Illinois, to the late Adam and Dorothy Semonick.

Deanna was a proud graduate of Westville High School and carried the spirit of her hometown throughout her life. Known for her infectious laughter and her ability to bring joy to those around her, she had a unique way of making even the simplest moments special. Her vibrant personality brought warmth and light into the lives of family and friends alike. Her love and pride for her family were evident, particularly her unwavering support for her grandchildren. She made sure she never missed a sporting event and looked forward to every opportunity to cheer them on.

She married the love of her life, Albert "Al" Wichtowski, in November of 1972. They created over 3 decades of wonderful memories together before his passing in 2004.

Deanna enjoyed a fulfilling career at the Illiana VA, dedicating nearly 30 years of her life to serving veterans before retiring. Her commitment and compassion during her years there were exemplary. She touched the lives of many and developed life long friendships.

Deanna found great joy in watching hummingbirds on her deck, fishing, gardening, and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an avid baseball (Cubs), basketball (Pacers), and football (Colts) fan. Traveling with her children and grandchildren brought her immense happiness and created memories that her family will treasure forever. She was often seen walking with her neighbors and, more recently, she took up playing pickleball. She enjoyed gathering whomever she could to sit around the table with her and play games or cards. Deanna leaves behind a legacy marked by laughter, love, and a profound commitment to her family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents. Deanna was preceded in death by her twin sister, Darlene Smith, and her brother David Semonick.

She is survived by her children Jamie (Phil) Skinner, Angel (Toby) McDaniel, and Lance (Ashley) Wichtowski, as well as her grandchildren Macy Skinner, Emma Skinner, Tyler McDaniel, Nicholas (Kayla) McDaniel, Maylee McDaniel, Drew Wichtowski, and Lainey Wichtowski.
