Newport, Ind. -- Deanna Sue Cheesman, 61, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 7:10 p.m. EST Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton, Indiana. She was born September 3, 1946 in Clinton, Indiana, the daughter of the late George W. and Mable L. Hatch Harrison. She married Kenneth D. Cheesman on November 4, 1963 in Newport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1998. Survivors include: one daughter, Kindalyn(Scott)Faltersack of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one son, Kip(Tammy Cook)Cheesman of Newport, Indiana; two grandchildren, Robert A.(Crystal Shell)Fortner of Newport, Indiana and Kaci Lee Cheesman of Georgetown, Illinois; two great granddaughters, Taylor Nicole and Hailey Marie Fortner both at home; two sisters, Dorothy(Joe)Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska and Marty(Dick)Zumwalt of Newport, Indiana; two brothers, George(Judy)Harrison of Portland, Oregon and Dale "Shag"(Linda)Harrison of Newport, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Brian Cheesman; two granddaughters, Aren and Danyel Cheesman; one grandson, Travis Lee Griffin and one brother, Robert Lee Harrison. Sue retired from Master Guard in Veedersburg, Indiana in 2006. She formerly worked at General Electric in Danville, Illinois from 1969 to 1992. Sue attended the Newport Church of God. She was a member of the Newport American Legion Auxiliary Post # 184. Sue was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Braves and Indiana University Basketball. She enjoyed going to demolition derbies and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She especially enjoyed babysitting her two great granddaughters. There will be no services. Cremation was chosen. Burial of Cremains will be held at a later date at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
