Dean Carrigan

DEAN CARRIGAN Dean Carrigan, 84, of Tilton, passed away at 5:59 a.m. Friday, October 15th, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Dean was born on March 20th, 1926 in Catlin, the son of Lewis and Blanche (Hansbrough) Carrigan. He married Margaret Okuly in June of 1945 in Danville. She preceded him in death on February 18th, 2003. He is survived by a daughter- Sharon (Darrell) Hendricks of Tilton; two sons- Patrick (Connie) Carrigan of Roscoe, Illinois and Michael (Candy) Carrigan of Kokomo, Indiana; two sisters-Delores Carrigan of Baltimore, Maryland and Joanne (Doc) Hacker of Sparta, Illinois; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, seven brothers and six sisters. Dean attended Catlin High School. He worked as a nursing assistant at the VA Hospital for 37 years, until retiring in 1980. He was a charter member of the AFGE Local #1963 at the hospital. He was a past member of the Vermilion Fishing Club and Fairview Sportsmans Club. Dean loved fishing, hunting, watching TV, gardening and reading the newspaper. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. As per his wishes, cremation rites will be performed at Sunsets onsite crematory under the immediate direction of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home.
