David Wayne Holycross

Goose Creek, S.C. - David Wayne Holycross, 67, of Goose Creek and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly late Sunday morning, May 22, 2022 at his residence.

He was born June 13, 1954 in Danville, Illinois the son of Harold W. and Edna Rosalie (Mack) Holycross.

Survivors include his daughter: Skyla Holycross of Goose Creek, South Carolina; son: Jeff (Ruth) Holycross of North Charleston, South Carolina; father: Harold W. Holycross of Cayuga, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Dante', Taylor, Alicia, Aaliyah, Jacob, Makayla and Paris; great-grandson: Jordan; two sisters: Sherry McMasters and Marsha (Johnny) Peterson both of Cayuga, Indiana; the love of his life: Debra (Holycross) Dobbs of Cayuga, Indiana; two nieces: Michelle (Jason) Marshall and Sami (Mike) Dillon; two nephews: Todd (Raven) Peterson and John (Tracey) McMasters; his beloved dog: Teddy, and two horses: Chance and Rascal.

David was preceded in death by his mother, and brother-in-law: John McMasters.

David worked at Middleton Place for over 27 years doing what he loved, being around animals, taking care of horses and horseback riding, trail rides, fox hunts and going to horse shows. He was a graduate of North Vermillion High School. David enjoyed going to the beach, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial: 4:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Officiating: Kevin Cox; Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana.
