David Swartzendruber

David D. Swartzendruber 85, of Champaign, IL. passed away at his home on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was born in Bloomington, IL. on October 14, 1938, the son of Herb and Fern Swartzendruber.

Dave grew up in several towns in Northern Illinois with his family settling in Princeton, IL., where Dave graduated from high school in 1956. He married his love, Judy in 1959, she survives. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1959 and returned to Champaign in 1962 where they have remained.

In 1996 Dave retired from UPS after 31 years of employment. He enjoyed motorsports, working on cars, taking road trips, reading and visiting with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dave is also survived by his siblings, Donna Wirges, Nancy Cranfill and Bill Swartzendruber, children, Steven (Alicia) Swartzendruber, Mark (Kathleen) Swartzendruber, Sarah (Nathan) Wheeler, grandchildren, Nicole (Jason), Faith, Nathan (Sarah) and Harlan, great grandchildren, Lucy and Elenor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Shirley and Duane "Bud". Swartzendruber.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at The Vineyard Church 1500 N. Lincoln Ave, Urbana, IL. 61801 from 11:30am-1pm with a service to follow at 1pm. Dave will be interred at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be made in his name to The Vineyard Church.
