David Matthew Winchester

Danville - David Matthew Winchester, 71, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. He was born on December 28, 1946 in Peoria, IL to Earl and Geraldine (Burns) Winchester. Dave married Regina Cole at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville, IL on September 14, 1974. Dave is survived by his wife; son David T. (Brande) Winchester; brothers Ed (Loretta) Winchester of Winchester, VA and Mark (Teresa) Winchester of Danville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Dave's grandsons, Jordan and Kolin, were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary. Dave served in the US Army from February 1968 to February 1970 as a Spec 5. He graduated from Schlarman High School in 1966. Dave worked at Danville Beverage as a driver until he purchased My Brothers in 1986. He retired in 2012. Dave was a bowler for many years and was inducted into the Danville Bowling Hall of Fame during the 2009-2010 season. He was a die-hard Cardinal fan. Dave enjoyed playing golf and spending times with his family and friends. He loved watching his grandsons play baseball and bowl. A graveside committal with military rites will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Danville National Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 2pm-7pm at Sarge's Tap, 409 E. Main St., Danville, IL 61832. Dave participated in the Gift of Hope program to help others. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Vermillion County Animal Shelter where they got their dog Koda.
