Danville – David John Lowery, 67, of Danville passed away at 5:43 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his home. He was born January 30, 1958 in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Margaret (Holmberg) Lowery. He married the love of his life, Christine Sloger, on August 10, 1991 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Margaret Lowery; brother, Thomas Lowery; he was an adored uncle to his nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Thomas) Finke, Ryan (Dori) Lowery, Joy (Eric) Squires, Alan (Sarah) Rouse, Chase (Katie) Rouse, Jake (Taylor) Huffman, Isabelle (Ty) Morse, and Myles Masengale; great nieces and nephews, Emma, Molly, and Sarah Lowery, John Paul, Dominic, and Charles Finke, Zevin, Oren, Gavin, Declan, and Quinn Rouse, Rowan Huffman, and Miranda Morse; special aunt and uncle, Edward and Janet Pahalek; and a special cousin, Christin (Jeff) Mucha and their children.
He was preceded in death by his father, his Aunt Marilyn, his grandma and grandpa Holmberg, and his grandma and grandpa Lowery.
David graduated from Schlarman High School in 1976. There he made many great friendships that have lasted through the years. David then earned his bachelor’s in business management from St. Norbert College. He worked in warehousing for several companies, including Case Equipment in Chicago, Imperial Bondware, and Firestone. David was also integral in helping start Central States Distribution, Inc. with his parents. Through his dedication to the family business, he was key in making it a success. In addition, he and Christine were the owners and operators of Lake Wisconsin Resort LLC in Lake Wisconsin, WI for 11 years where he also served as President of the Lake Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce. When they moved back to Central Illinois, David worked as a Teacher’s Aide for District 118 where he immensely enjoyed working with the students and staff.
Aside from his work, David liked gardening and playing golf. He enjoyed having friends over to his “man cave” to watch sports on the big screen TV or just sitting on the front porch and enjoying a cigar. He also loved to travel and especially enjoyed the trips he and Christine would take to St. George Island, FL and the Florida Keys. In his younger years, he even took a few months off work to travel the country with a friend.
David was always the life of the party and was known to light up a room when he would walk in. He was a fierce and loyal friend with several relationships lasting more than 50 years. It didn’t matter if it was the people he knew while driving for CRIS or those he met at the Lake Resort, David loved to listen to stories and make new relationships. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Christine would like to thank all of those who supported her and David through his journey. Your love and generosity is an honor to your friendship with David and fills my heart with Joy.
