David Lee Switzer, 65, of Bismarck, IL passed away at his home at 3:35 PM on August 25, 2024.
David was born on August 31, 1958 in Danville, IL the son of Barry Monroe and Lavonne (Reese) Switzer. He married Sheila Marie Kinney on November 24, 1984 in Danville, IL and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Switzer of Bismarck, IL, three children, Lucas (Sarah) Switzer of West Lebanon, IN, Megan (Cory) Rieches of Hoopeston, IL and Duane (Jessica) Camilletti of Urbana, IL, his mother, Lavonne (Carl) Neff of Veedersburg, IN, five grandchildren, Mason, Maxwell, Kinsley, Brigid and Duane “Odie”, as well as his siblings, William (Janet) Switzer of Georgetown, IL, Debbie (Ned) Wright of Kingman, IN, Rebecca (Tom) Payton of Lafayette, IN, Mark (Jill) Switzer of Kingman, IN and Bob Switzer of Wilmington, IL and his beloved dog, “Luther”.
David is preceded in death by his father, Barry Monroe Switzer.
David is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville, IL and worked as a Toolmaker for the University of Illinois. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandkids, riding his motorcycle, fishing, making bamboo fly rods and flys, woodworking, working on his model T and especially “Earl” his 1953 Chevy pickup truck.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the Danville First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois 61832. Pastor Dave Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Danville First Church of the Nazarene.
Memorials may be made in David’s memory to the Bamboo Bend Project or the Danville First Church of the Nazarene.
